The Urbandale Community School District Board of Directors meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month in the multipurpose room at Olmsted Elementary School, 7110 Prairie, Urbandale, Iowa 50322. Special meetings are held when deemed necessary or advisable. Official action of the Board can only be taken at formal meetings open to the public. District residents are invited to attend meetings and share their ideas and suggestions for improving the school district's educational services. Persons wishing to have an item considered by the Board should contact the Superintendent at (515) 457-5002, at least one week prior to the meeting so that the issue can be researched and placed on the printed agenda. Persons wishing to address the board on non-agenda items may be heard without Board discussion or deliberation; such persons should contact the Superintendent to ensure that an opportunity to speak is provided.

Steven Schuler, President of the Board of Directors (Term Expires: 2004)

Steven serves on the Operations and Finance Committee and the Instruction Committee of the Board. Steven may be contacted at home, located at 4305 Mary Lynn Drive. His home phone number is 276-7063. Steven and his wife, Rose Ann, have three children. Their two daughters, Katy and Dania, have graduated from Urbandale Schools and now attend the University of Iowa. Their son, Patrick, is a senior at Urbandale High School. Steven is a CPA and is Chief Financial Officer of Iowa Wireless Services, which is headquartered in the Aurora Business Park in Urbandale. Steven has a degree from Iowa State University College of Business in Accounting. Steven's other professional and civic activities include Financial Executives International, Urbandale Public Library Foundation, Iowa State University Foundation Board of Governors and Finance Committee, Iowa State University College of Business Dean's Advisory Council. He has also served on the Urbandale Community School District Community Facilities Committee (Sales Tax Oversight Committee) and has graduated from Leadership Iowa and the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute.

Kirby Wood, Vice-President of the Board of Directors (Term Expires: 2004)

Kirby is Vice-president and Regional Director of Berthel Fisher & Company Financial Services, Inc., 4201 Westown Parkway #120, West Des Moines, IA 50266. He received his BBA in finance from the University of Iowa and later passed the C.P.A. examination. Kirby has been involved in numerous youth activities as chaperone, coach, league director and board member. 

Doug Getter, Director (Term Expires: 2004)

Doug is a single parent with three young adults who acquired their k-12 education in the Urbandale School District. He has served as a member of the UCSD Board of Education since 1995 and served as Board President during the 1999-2000 school year. He has served five years on the Instruction Committee and is currently a member of the Long Range Planning Committee. Doug has been active within the district for over 20 years.

Cynthia Munyon, Director (Term Expires: 2005)

Cynthia, and her husband, Richard Dilley, have two children, Andrew (UHS) and Catherine (Olmsted), in Urbandale schools. She is a paralegal for the Iowa Utilities Board and has degrees in Liberal Arts and Science. Cynthia serves on the Urbandale Community Center Project Team, the National Federation of Paralegal Associations, and is a Leadership Urbandale 2000 graduate. Cynthia has held every office on the Rolling Green PTO Board and continues to be actively involved volunteering in the schools.

Jerry Tormey, Director (Term Expires: 2005)

Jerry has worked in the mental health field for the last 21 years. He is the Vice President of Human Resources and Residential Programs for Behavioral Health Resources, a non profit agency serving people with mental health needs. Jerry has been an active volunteer in the school district including; PTO President, parent representative on Vision 2005 Advisory Committee, Community Facilities Committee - Sales Tax Oversight, New Iowa Schools Development Corporation - School Based Shared Decision Making, and the Spending Reduction Task Force.

Diana Ripperger, Director (Term Expires: 2006)

Diana has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Northern Iowa. Her background includes several years in the banking industry, and she is currently self-employed as a merchandising and marketing consultant. Diana is very active as a volunteer in the Urbandale schools at the elementary, middle and high school levels.

Theresa Weeg, Director (Term Expires: 2006)

Theresa may also be contacted at her home number which is 276-3402. Theresa and her husband, Joe, are parents to Patrick (University of Iowa), Maggie (UHS), and Hannah (UMS). She has been an Assistant Attorney General in the Iowa Attorney General's Office since 1981; her JD is from the University of Iowa. Mrs. Weeg's civic activities include the Civic Music Association, Holt International Children's Services, and State of Iowa Refugee Services Bureau. She has also volunteered in the schools and served on a number of school district committees.
